Meet Nest...

Thinking back, we really haven't seen any major Apple offshoots...until now.  Meet Nest.  Nest is a start up company from iPod brainchild Tony Fadell and they aim to revolutionize the home thermostat category and certainly others down the road.  Looks like an awesome product.  Pre-order yours today.  (no we're not being paid to say that).  With skyrocketing energy costs....it's about damn time.  Enjoi.

Godspeed Steve

Some of us are Mac people, some of us aren't.  At M80, we are about 50/50 Mac/PC and are equally as opinionated which leads to some rather heated arguments usually ending in an "agree to disagree" standing.  One thing we can all agree on though is Steve Jobs and his legacy to design and revolutionary, game changing products.  The only words that need to be said are iPod, iPhone, iPad, Atari, Pixar.

He will surely be remembered.  R.I.P. Steve.

Hey Look...It's Markie.

Meet Markie.  Markie loves to fish.  Markie also loves to write.  While it's not Time magazine or "name the most well-known publication", This is Fly is by far the coolest online magazine in the fly fishing world.  Its like Transworld Skateboarding for fly fisherman and.....Markie's in it.  Check out this month's issue of This Is Fly where our friend Markie does the fishing and writes the story, and our friend Chip takes the beautiful photos.  Well done guys and Congrats!  Enjoi.

Rolf Nylinder...extraordinaire...Something like that.

So we've seen him snowboard and skate but now we see him fish.  Yes, that's right...fish.  He's Swedish, he's an awesome snowboarder, awesome skater, and awesome fly fisher (is "fisher" a word?).  He's a funny guy.  Check him out.  Enjoi.

Back when it was good...

So summer is here.  So why the hell are we dreaming of winter?  Because VBS.tv just released a new-old snowboarding video on their show "Powder and Rails", that's why.  The video is called RPM and it was filmed back when snowboarding was good.  It was loud, had tons of individual style, and no one was throwing Double Cork-Half Cab-Roast Beefs (or something like that).  We love authenticity and this is about as authentic as it gets.  No BS, nothing fancy, just loads of fun.  If you've got a moment to watch, crave a blast from the past, or are dreaming of winter...this vids for you.  Enjoi.

Playing for Change

If you can't tell, we love music.  We've been following the Playing for Change Foundation for quite some time now and can't get enough of 'em.  It's an amazing organization, that does great things for great people.

Check 'em out at www.playingforchange.com and spend some time enjoying the episodes.  Enjoi.

WU LYF

What can we say about WU LYF?  Well, not much 'cause no one knows that much about them...except that they've been hyping up their new album for the last year putting out snippets of tracks and pulling off an amazing guerilla marketing campaign on our asses.  Oh, and they kick ass too!  Here's a clip from their upcoming album Go Tell Fire to the Mountain...or something like that.  Enjoi.

Back at it.

At M80, we try within our busy schedules to give back to the design community as much as we can.  Zack teaches an automotive design class at his alma mater, Cleveland Institute of Art, where he is able to stay involved with industrial design's future generations.  He has a ton of passion for his craft and we're proud of him for not hording his talents and instead passing them on to young designers.  He says it helps him learn too.

So this year, Zack was given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker for CIA's annual Automotive Design Symposium at the Cleveland Auto Show (I-X Center).  The crowd was a mixed group of about 175 high school students and art students from the Greater Cleveland area.  If you know Zack, he's a quiet guy and is no good at public speaking....we have no idea how he pulled this one off.  Just kidding.  It apparently paid off.

Latest track.

Wow!  This latest comes from a group that has never produced a full album but one that's created some beautiful tracks.  A little folk, a little Fleet Foxes, a little haunting....a lot of awesome.  Crank it up f*@r.  Enjoi.

I'm bloggin' this shhhhh....

Wow.  As we get older, we dream of flying like we did when our bodies could handle it.  This might just be the solution.  Enjoi.
